Weekly Mileage is up

The past two weeks now have me averaging over 25 miles/week. I know I need to get this number up even more, but this is a good start. I was averaging about 11-15 mi/week so this is a definite improvements. I've also gone to at least two long runs per week. Had a nice 7.5 mi run yesterday and plan to get in another long one tomorrow after work. The snow (yes, snow in Seattle in March) kept me in today.

My times are consistent around 9:10 miles right now. For a time back in January I had them at 8:30 miles so I have to figure out whats going on there. may be time to add some variety in the workouts and push harder on the short run days. I'm still close enough to be able to keep on my 2hr goal for my 1/2 marathons and easily break 5 hrs for my 2 full ones. But I'd like to get my 5k time back down in to the low 26s/high 25s.

kinda quiet, time for a new post

Haven't posted much in the past week because there is not much to report on yet. Still waiting to get my official number but I'm sure it'll be here soon.

In the meantime, here's one of the cool things you can do with a Garmin GPS running watch. Here’s my path from the SF ½ Marathon in Feb - http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/kml/episode.kml?episodePkValues=4924506

And the Phoenix RnR ½ Marathon - http://maps.google.com/maps?q=http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/kml/episode.kml?episodePkValues=4829481

Unfortunately, I don't have the one from my Seattle half. But, for each 1/2 Marathon that I do every month I will post up the map view showing the course.

Medical approval done!

Met with the doc yesterday and I think we spent more time talking about the Medoc marathon than actually doing anything to make sure I'm healty. In any case, I now have my medical clearance. FedEx'd it off last night and now just wait to see if my pre-reg is accepted.

Training runs

Spent some time last night firming up my running schedule and here are some of my targeted runs:
Salt Lake City
Vancouver
Bellevue/Seafair
Napa/Sonoma
Marathon du Medoc
RnR San Jose
RnR San Antonio
Las Vegas

got my pre-reg papers

The e-mail showed up yesterday and I'm off to the doc this afternoon for the medical clearance. Then its off to FedEx to send the documents back to France. Not sure how long it'll take to know if I got in but hopefully it'll be soon. The room is all set, just need to provide credit card info and get it locked in. So far, its all looking good.

I think I'm in

Although my first two e-mails didn't get any response, my third one did. I was informed that if I had received a confirmation from their billing company then I am on their list. I should expect to receive an e-mail with the full forms & details for how to send in my medical certificate. So, it looks like I'm in! If I don't receive an update from them on Monday then I'll e-mail again but I'm hopeful its all coming in to place.

As for lodging, I found a nice little place in Pauillac. That will be much easier than doing an hour drive to/from the start line.

In running news this has been a good week. Did a easy 4.5 miles today and am finally back in the pattern of 4-5 days a week. Had a period where i was only doing 2 or 3 runs a week so this is good to get back. I'll work up to 5 solid days of at least 5 miles over the next month or two and then start to ratchet up the long weekend runs starting in May or June.
